Gloria “Winky” Vaughan

CEO

Gloria Vaughan, known only as Winky, is the CEO of National Pools of Roanoke, Inc. Starting the business with her late husband, Jim, in 1977 and raising 3 sons in the business over the past 40 years has been her life dream. She started working with her father in the swimming pool business when she was 14 years old doing accounting, clerical, sales, inventory, construction, service and customer service for his business in Northern Virginia. Her father was a pioneer in the pool industry since the 1950’s and worked in the pool industry most of his life building some of the most prestigious pools in the Country. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1975 in Business Management, she and her husband along with the encouragement of her family started National Pools of Roanoke, Inc. in 1977. 40 years later, her company is still here with the help of Dave, her special partner in life, her sons and the more than 40 employees that have made this company what it is today. Winky has served on the BBB board, is a member of the United Aqua Group and is a Certified Building Professional. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her 13 grandchildren.

Lee Vaughan

President, Renovation & Service

Lee started working in his family’s business in 1997, focusing his talents in our service department. After graduating from Virginia Western with diplomas in HVAC, Welding, Electrical Wiring, and Industrial Maintenance he has played a pivotal role in growing National Pools’ service and renovation division. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the service and renovation crews, managing on average 20+/- employees. Lee focuses on commercial filtration and chemical automation. He has gained industry knowledge through the completion of many certifications: APSP Certified Service Technician, NSPF Certified Pool Operator, Certified Pool Operator Instructor, Certified Pool Inspector, and Tech I and Tech II Certified Service Technician. He continues to expand his expertise with certifications in many manufactures’ training courses. Lee is a PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver.

Lee enjoys being able to work with his family daily, especially his wife Mea. He is the proud father of three kids, two young girls and a baby boy. He enjoys the outdoor life spending time kayaking, camping, skiing, and swimming. Lee also enjoys flying airplanes with his Private Pilot License.

Jason Vaughan

Vice President, Sales & New Construction

Jason began his career with National Pools in 1993, working part time during the summer for his family’s business in the construction division of the company.  While obtaining his Bachelors degree from Virginia Tech, Jason started working full-time in design and sales in 1999.  He now oversees the company’s new sales, design and construction; supervising residential and commercial construction, and managing 15+/- employees.  Jason takes pride in representing National Pools in industry organizations such as United Aqua Group MAC committee member, APSP WAVE committee member and serving as the President of the Central Virginia Chapter of the APSP.  He also holds certifications in APSP Certified Building Professional, Tech I & Tech II Certified, NSPF Certified Pool Operator, Certified Pool Operator Instructor, and many manufactures’ training courses.  Jason is also a PADI Certified Scuba Diver.  His number one priority with National Pools is ensuring quality workmanship and 100% customer satisfaction.

Jason enjoys playing a part in his family’s success and being able to work with his wife, Ginnie, mother, Winky and two brothers, Lee & Austin.  When he is not working, he enjoys being outside and working on projects of his own.  He loves spending time with his two young sons and takes great pride in Hokie football!

Austin Vaughan

Vice President, Sales, Design & Construction

Austin started working with his family’s business in 2000 doing summer construction and CAD design.  After graduating from Virginia Tech with his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction he has taken on a significant role of new pool sales, design and construction.  With his certification of ACI Shotcrete Nozzleman, Austin has personally constructed several award-winning pools.  He takes pride in his designs and focuses on attention to detail and customer satisfaction on the job.  He has gained his industry knowledge by obtaining many certifications:  APSP Certified Building Professional, APSP Certified Service Technician, NPC Start-up Technician, and NSPF Certified Pool Operator.  Austin is a PADI Certified Scuba Diver.

Aside from spending time with his two children, Austin enjoys hunting, camping, boating and working on home-improvement projects of his own.

Beverly Smith

Vice President

Beverly Smith first came to National Pools as a “Kelly Girl” and has been an employee since 1985.  She is an Officer of the company, currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer.  Throughout the years, Bev has lived all over the country with her family but remained involved with National Pools as a full-time remote employee.  In 2015, she and her husband returned to the Roanoke area and she is now in the office working with several departments including accounting, service and construction.  Through her travels and long tenure at National Pools, Bev brings a unique perspective to National Pools and its customers.

Bev and her husband are the proud parents of their three sons and the proud grandparents of their 3 granddaughters and one grandson on the way.

Ginnie Vaughan

Secretary & General Manager

Ginnie joined National Pools full-time in 2003 after she graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management.  She helps manage our retail store and specializes in outdoor furniture, overseeing purchasing and sales of this department.  Ginnie also leads our retail sales team with product knowledge, water chemistry expertise, and computer management.  With over a decade of customer service and sales experience, Ginnie takes pride in making customer satisfaction her number one priority.

Ginnie is the wife of Vice President  Jason Vaughan and the mother to their two young boys.  She enjoys watching them play sports, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Hokies!

Mea Vaughan

Treasurer, Residential & Commercial Service Manager

Mea joined National Pools full-time in 2005 after she graduated from Roanoke College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance. She currently manages our Residential and Commercial Service and Maintenance division. She has gained industry knowledge through the completion of the NSPF Certified Pool Operators course and the APSP Certified Service Technician course.

Mea is the wife of Vice President, Lee Vaughan.  She has 3 young children, two girls and one boy.  She is the proud mother of two avid swimmers on local swim teams, and is a true believer in the infant/toddler survival and swim programs.

Tanya Toney

Office Manager

Tanya has been a loyal employee for many years, having started her career at National Pools in 1991 when she was just 15 years old. After graduating from Northside High School in 1993, Tanya began working for the company full-time she continued her education and received an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Western, followed by a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Radford University.  Tanya is responsible for the Accounting portion of the business, mainly Accounts Payable and Receivable, and she has a combined total of 26 years of experience in the pool industry and in Accounting. Tanya values the work she does, and strives to do what is best for the company.
