Thinking of closing your swimming pool? We recommend waiting until the water temperature gets below 55 degrees. Algae cannot grow in water temps below 55. We find that customers who close their swimming pools at Labor Day tend to have green pools at opening vs customer who wait until water temps get colder.
We also recommend adding liquid chlorine throughout the winter months when the temperatures get above 55 degrees. As many of you know the weather in Roanoke and its surrounding areas are never consistent. We can sometimes have warmer days in February and March and because of this, pools can turn green in these months. By adding liquid chlorine as a preventative, this allows for a more consistent chlorine level in pools and allow it to fight off algae.
